Small Things - Photo Albums Fixed
I normally advocate Firefox as the internet browser of choice, but for some reason it just didn’t want to play nice with the photo album plugin I’m using. Not being one to give up, I finally managed to get to the root of the problem and fixed it. Read on for details…
Details:
Album Plugin: FAlbum 0.6.9 (get it here)
Theme used: 4U for WP 2.1 (get it here)
Problem:
When displaying the contents of some albums using FAlbum, the top of the footer seemed to ‘rise’ to consume the whole album. Closer inspection showed this only happened when the total number of photos in the album were less than the maximum number of photos displayed per page (and hence all photos were on one page).
Solution:
Edit the file /wp-content/plugins/falbum/styles/yourstyle/album-thumbnails.tpl.php, where ‘yourstyle’ is the name of the style you are using (normally default). At the very end of file, insert the line <div class=’falbum-clear’></div> as shown below:

Save this file, and go to wp-admin > options > FAlbum. Click on the “Clear Cache” button, then scroll down to the bottom of the options page and click on “Update Options >>”.
Go back to the photos page on your blog and refresh. The problem should now have disappeared!
If you find this useful, please add a trackback from your blog or leave a comment below. Hopefully with FAlbum 0.7 this hack will no longer be needed!
